The focus of this discussion-based class is how people working in various disciplines can use the arts to do their jobs better. We will look at five different areas: art used in training medical professionals; art used by law enforcement officers; how art can enhance the educational process; art as an important aid in healing; and the ways art can create a sense of community. The final class will be a field trip to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts to use what we have learned during the previous sessions. In this hands-on multi-faceted class, participants will be given tools for close looking and talking about art as well as have an opportunity to take part in the training through discussion, learning from each other, and engaging in a variety of creative art making activities. The instructor will bring all necessary materials.
