Israeli Politics: The Recent Election and Current Challenges

The recent elections in Israel are complete and the government there has gone into the sometimes lengthy and complex process of forming a new government. President Reuven Rivlin assigned Benjamin Netanyahu the task of trying to form the new government on the very day Netanyahu's trial on corruption charges began. There is a movement afoot to keep him from continuing as Prime Minister and there are days, or weeks, of hard bargaining ahead. In an online discussion led by Chris Schaefer, we will start with a brief overview of the Israeli political system, introduce the major players and do an analysis of the current election cycle, then wrap up with details of the bargaining going on to establish the new government. There is nothing dull about Israeli politics, so it should be interesting.
