Opened 83 years ago in 1939, the Fieldhouse is one of the oldest standing buildings on the UofU campus. It has been home to the basketball team, served as a sports practice facility, and housed an indoor track and gym for students. Most recently, the Fieldhouse held classroom spaces for the School of Dance and the College of Architecture + Planning. Truly an anchor for lower campus, the Fieldhouse roof bears bold lettering reading "UTAH" - a symbol of pride visible from inside the Rice Eccles Stadium. Now, the Fieldhouse is being renovated into a 375-seat theatre to be shared between the Department of Theatre and Pioneer Theatre Company. Let's take a hard-hat behind-the-scenes construction tour of this historic building, hosted by a member of the College of Fine Arts staff. Please note: This is a construction site tour. Please wear closed-toe shoes and casual clothes. Hard hats will be provided. We may be climbing stairs.
