Osher Special Events provide a way for members to learn about our surrounding community and to stay connected when classes are not in session. Four Osher Special Events are included in the basic membership per term. RSVP's are required, and can be done by selecting your desired event below.

In-Person Event: Tour of the Trans-Jordan Landfill

Have you ever wondered questions such as: Where does your garbage go? What is a landfill? How do we protect groundwater? What is recycling? What goes in my recycle bin? What are natural resources? The Trans-Jordan Landfill has been operating and promoting sustainable programs for more than 20 years and encourages community residents to become better stewards of the environment. We will be given a guided tour of the landfill by bus to see it up close and personal and will learn about landfill operations, environmental control systems, recycling programs, and recycling best practices.
