We have the opportunity to take a staff guided tour of the The Utah Sports Hall of Fame. The USHOFF was organized in 1967 as "The Old Time Athletes Association." The goal then, as well as it is today, is to celebrate and preserve Utah's storied sports heritage by honoring over 200 sports heroes with Utah ties. Inside, you will find interactive activities: sports quizzes and a chance to take a virtual bobsled run. Short, very well-done videos have been produced for recent inductees, and there are sections that honor coaches and officials as well as athletes at all levels of sports competition. It is well worth your time to drop by and learn about those who made great contributions to sports in Utah, including Alf Engen, skiing (1970); Gene Fullmer, boxing (1970); Merlin Olsen, football (1979); Larry H. Miller, softball/basketball (1992); Missy Marlowe, gymnastics (1997); Tom Chambers, basketball (2010); Jerry Sloan, basketball (2011); Karl Malone, basketball (2012) Billy Casper, golf (2013); and Cael Sanderson, wrestling (2015).
There will be some seats and benches available in the gallery but please expect to do some standing during the tour.
This is a free event, however, donations are gladly appreciated.
