Did you know that when surplus food ends up in the landfill it releases harmful methane gas into our environment? And at the same time Project Drawdown has determined that reducing our food waste is the number one solution to reversing greenhouse gas emissions. Waste Less Solutions is a Utah-based nonprofit dedicated to the education prevention and diversion of food waste. Simply put, they believe we should feed more people and waste less food. Their goal is to educate Utahns about the harmful Impacts of food waste and provide solutions. They also operate a food rescue program that rescues surplus edible food from food businesses like restaurants, caterers, and farmers markets and delivers that food to nonprofit partners that distribute it to people facing food insecurity in our communities.
