We will tour the 99 year old Salt Lake Masonic Temple, located in SLC. Few buildings in our state represent such a beautifully preserved icon of Utah history. Dedicated in 1927, the five-story temple was built at a cost of $750,000 from Utah Granite Quarry in Little Cottonwood Canyon. It was closely modeled after the designs and measurements for King Solomons Temple with ancient units of measure updated to current measures (the ancient cubit was converted to feet). The building contains four lodge rooms, an auditorium, a banquet hall, a library, two kitchens, and various foyers and halls, in addition to several offices. We will visit each of those rooms, stop in one of the foyers, and note the various architectural and decorative features of each. As we tour the rooms, you are urged to photograph what interests you and to ask questions. They look forward to sharing this very important building with you.
Please note: This tour will have a considerable amount of walking with a few places to sit along the way.03-28-2025, Friday
