Antelope Island State Park: Visitors Center Sneak Peek

Antelope Island Visitor Center

Osher members, how would you like a sneak peek at one of northern Utah's best-kept secrets? Soon, a new visitor center will revolutionize the guest experience at Antelope Island State Park. The massive facility will feature meeting spaces, a classroom, a dry lab, all new exhibitions, and sweeping views of the Great Salt Lake from multiple outdoor terraces. The new building also includes a giant screen theater which will show the custom-created 3-D film "Secrets of Great Salt Lake." The film is 44 minutes long and takes viewers on a journey from ancient Lake Bonneville to modern-day Utah.

Antelope Island State Park is inviting the University of Utah's Osher Institute to preview the new facility and the film BEFORE it opens to the public. Additionally, Park Ranger James Bustin will give a brief presentation on bird populations and the changing Great Salt Lake. This event, and admission to the state park, is free of charge, but you must register to attend. Osher members can arrive at the park any time after 7:00 a.m. However, the new visitor center and its parking lot will not be accessible until 9:15 am. Feel free to explore the island as you as you'd like before then or afterward too!
