The Human Resources Management program gives you the foundation needed for a successful career by providing the skills necessary for you to align human resource practices to any professional organization. The courses within the program are results-oriented and practical, with real-world examples and exercises. Human resources management topics covered in the program include employee recruitment and selection, total rewards, conflict resolution in the workplace, employment law, and more.
Our classes are for everyone! You do not need to be a student of the University of Utah.
About the Program
This program contains six individual classes focusing on Human Resources Foundations. Students who complete and attend all six classes will be awarded the Human Resources Management Program digital badge.
Schedule:
- Courses within the program are offered during the spring and fall semesters.
- Each class is six hours of instruction.
- Classes are held one day per week from 9 am to 4 pm (with a lunch break).
- Our classes are live are not recorded. Classes may be offered online, or in-person.
- It is recommended that you start with Employment Law to preserve program structure and content.
- This program can be completed in one or more semesters.
Tuition:
- Individual class - $307.00
- Total program - $1842.00 (6 required classes)
- University of Utah Employee Discount Eligible
- Financial aid is not available for this noncredit program. Students are encouraged to inquire with their employers to determine if tuition assistance is available.
Who Should Attend
This program prepares students to serve in human resource management positions in any type of organization. It is designed for the following individuals:
- Those seeking to enter the human resources management field.
- Current HR managers who want to enhance their skills and knowledge to fundamentally improve their organization’s talent retention and relationships with employees.
Requirements:
- Attendance is required virtually or in-person for the full duration of the class.
- Register for the 6 mandatory classes, achieving a "Satisfactory" grade in each. Upon completion students will be awarded the Human Resources Management Program digital badge.

Program Requirements
Coursework:
- All class materials are held in Canvas. When you register you will receive a uID in an email with instructions to set up your CIS (Campus Information System) account and access Canvas.
- Attendance and participation are mandatory.
- Classes may include pre-work found in Canvas page one week before class begins.
Grading:
- Classes are graded on attendance and participation.
- Students must attend full class (6 hours) to receive an S (passing grade).
- Grades will be available in your student CIS account at the end of the semester.
- Our class offerings are not for university credit.
Our student success team will assist students with progress tracking and provide support throughout the program.
Next Steps:
After completing the Human Resources Management Program, students may wish to sit for the aPHR exam offered by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
Students who are currently working as human resource professionals may be eligible to sit for intermediate and advanced credentials offered by HRCI and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
