Welcome to this course on changing the world! As we move further into the 21st Century and a new millennium, we must work toward a radically different future in which the evils of extreme poverty and human suffering may be greatly alleviated, if not completely eliminated. The course will strengthen one's personal capacity to improve the world by learning and applying social innovations to empower the poor. Gaining an understanding of the current global context of suffering, conflicts, and other struggles, methods and tools will be studied for expanding family self-reliance globally. We will explore methods of change agentry and learn successful practices and strategies for empowering those who are marginalized, especially single mothers with children. Throughout the course, we will analyze powerful nonprofits that 1) Operate successful strategies 2) Generate deep and viable sustainability tools and 3) Produce important socio-economic impacts.
