The Basics of Modern Genetics

This course will introduce the basics of modern genetics and how it applies to topics in the news. The aim of this course is to encourage discourse about this fascinating subject and its increasing role in Medicine. Topics include: Your Genes and Genome, Genetic Testing for Hereditary Disease, Cancer Genetics, Personalized Medicine and Pharmacogenomic Testing, Genetics and Big Data, and Bacterial and Viral Genetics in Human Disease.
