Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) is one of the greatest opera composers of all time. He was so prolific, that it takes not one, but two six-week courses to cover all of his major compositions. In this course, we will examine operas from Verdi's early, middle, and late periods, several of which he revised extensively throughout his life. You do not have to have a background in classical music to enjoy this course. It is designed to offer something to everyone, from first time opera listeners to people with 80 years of experience in enjoying opera. Moreover, class members do not have to have taken the prequel to this course, "The Operas of Giuseppe Verdi" to understand and enjoy this course.
