Playwriting 101 (Age 14-17)

In this camp, students will learn how to write a play. This camp will teach students what makes a play, what makes a script, and is a way to expand their writing capabilities. Students should have a basic understanding of playwriting at the end of the week.

Learning Objectives:
  • Learn the foundational elements of playwriting, including structure, dialogue, stage directions, and script format
  • Develop creative writing skills by exploring how ideas become scenes and stories designed for performance
  • Gain confidence in writing original short plays and understanding the essential components that make a script effective
