Game Design: 3D Worlds (Age 12-14)
Youth Education

Students will run, jump, and play in a 3D adventure video game of their own creation. Whether they are inspired by classics like Super Mario 64 or modern hits like Fortnite, they will learn the game design fundamentals that make these games so engaging. Using Unreal Engine, students will design their own virtual world, set objectives, and explore everything they have built. The week concludes with a prototype that can be further developed and shared with others. Co-sponsored with Utah Division of Games.

Learning Objectives:
  • Design a 3D adventure world using Unreal Engine
  • Set objectives, challenges, and interactive elements within a custom environment
  • Build a playable prototype that demonstrates core 3D game design principles
