Crafting College Admissions Essays (Age 16-17)

In the calm before the September storm, join Higher Ground for a writing class guaranteed to be a boon to students looking to get a head start on their college applications. Students will learn specific strategies to get over the hump of starting a college essay and will discover how to write more confidently and creatively. The class closely examines essay prompts and students gain insight by writing and participating in feedback sessions with each other and the instructor. All students, regardless of their writing level, ability, or confidence are welcome to enroll in the workshop, and advanced writers will be accounted for and pushed to succeed in ways appropriate for their needs. This class will also give an overview of the college admissions process. Co-sponsored with Higher Ground Learning.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn what are the most important aspects of a quality college admission essay
  • Obtain real-time feedback about brainstorming and written work
  • Gain a comprehensive knowledge of the college admissions process in general

Summer 2024 Section 1, Starting on: 07/22/2024

This workshop is only open to rising Juniors and Seniors, no exceptions will be made. No Camp Wednesday, July 24th. Camp held at Higher Ground Learning 380 Pierpont Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Reminder emails will be sent out before camp begins and will include location notes and other details.
