Mad about Math: Bridging Math to Algebra (Age 11-12)

Get excited about variables as you connect your current math skills to algebra! Build up your knowledge of fractions, exponents, positive and negative numbers, and graphing through interactive games! Become familiar with and comfortable using beginning algebra skills that you will need to succeed in junior high. Create art, play dice and card games, have a blast with physical activities like data collection, and use math to break out of an escape room! Learn how to move from concrete to abstract thinking skills and understand algebra in a way you never thought possible.
Learning Outcomes:
- Connect elementary mathematics to algebraic concepts
- Learn the concept of a variable
- Solve for an unknown quantity in a linear equation
- Use math concepts to build algebraic reasoning
