Tired of being stuck inside climbing plastic? Then join us and learn the fundamental concepts of how to safely make the transition to climbing outdoors! You'll learn how to make basic outdoor anchors and knots, assess rock quality, and the fundamental of multi-pitch. You'll even get some tips on self-rescue techniques in case you get in a bind. Armed with this knowledge, you'll be better equipped to explore Utah's world-class outdoor routes in no time!

Class Sections For Rock Climbing: Transitioning to the Outdoors (LLREC 942)

Summer 2024 Section 1, Starting on: 05/22/2024

This class takes place at the University Connected Learning and Continuing Education building (540 Arapeen Drive, SLC). Special fee is for some materials and shared equipment. Students provide some of their own materials; find a list online. We hate canceling classes, but sometimes there are forces outside of our control. Please keep this in mind as you purchase supplies and hang onto your receipt. Email our office at lifelong@continue.utah.edu to inquire about the status of a class.
