Did you know that James Henry Audubon often worked from birds he'd shot in the field? Instead, inspired by contemporary wildlife artists, we will work from life without harming our subjects. A direct connection and observation of your subject allows you to know the bird intimately-their gestures and their personalities-so you can translate it to your art.

This class takes place at Tracy Aviary (589 E 1300 S, SLC). Students supply their own ticket to the aviary and are responsible for their own lunch. Students supply their own materials; find a list online. We hate canceling classes, but sometimes there are forces outside of our control. Please keep this in mind as you purchase supplies and hang onto your receipt. Email our office at lifelong@continue.utah.edu to inquire about the status of a class. A great precursor to this class is LLART 429 Drawing Basics: Birds at the Aviary.
